For its 10th edition Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (re)considers its format and extends beyond its implied temporality to look into the potential of a long-term commitment to site, topicalities and artists. Appointing Lisa Rosendahl to curate its coming two editions in 2019 and 2021 marks the beginning of a three-year engagement with the local context and its intersections with global issues.
This summer neighbour, artist and musician Per Svensson (b.1965) comes to Röda Sten Konsthall with his exhibition Alchemy - The All Seeing Eye. This exhibition, a coproduction between Färgfabriken and Röda Sten Konsthall, started out from the artist’s close connection to both venues.
From August 9 to 18, Röda Sten Konsthall in collaboration with TILLT, will host 7 international artists from Europe and the Middle East, working collectively in the transnational artistic platform Borderline Offensive.
For this solo exhibition, No Way Out, at Röda Sten Konsthall, Ríos will present a selection of six of recent video works, where stories involving landscapes, animals and objects symbolically articulate and comment upon current geopolitical issues such as immigration, trafficking, poverty, ideas of progress, despair and violence.
This is not a Departure Hall is this year's degree show in photography from the Valand Academy. Students from BA3 and MA2 show their individual work on four floors in the unique environment that Röda Sten Konsthall constitutes.

The exhibition Can You Hear Me? presents a series of paintings, an audio piece, and a video work about the artist’s connection with the motifs depicted, her privileges as a white woman, and the conflict between being critical of this and yet living within it.
Vivian Caccuri uses sound in her installations as a vehicle to combine experiments in sensory perception with issues relating to histories of colonization. A Soul Transplant is a sound and light installation, exploring stories about the interdependencies between humans and mosquitoes.

The very first edition of FRONTSIDE: Gothenburg International Chamber Music Festival takes place 17-20 January at Röda Sten Konsthall. The goal of the festival is to set the stage for musical encounters that touch all of our senses and provide the chamber music lover with the best of the best of the already known, while, at the same time, highlighting the hidden and previously unknown.
